Beltane Blessings, Aset Shemsu! Isian News no. 188, Beltane 2023, has been published! Happy Anniversary to the Fellowship of Isis

 

Blessed Vernal Equinox, Aset Shemsu! Today we honor the founding of the Fellowship of Isis, which was established on theVernal Equinox in 1976. Did you ever wonder why the founders chose this date? Olivia expressed her views in an interview given at the Nesu House, Isis Oasis, in 2003. She offered some beautiful insights the reasoning why this date was chosen, including this passage: "Spring marked the time of ancient Egyptian harvest. My brother, through his studies, discovered the four faces of Khufu’s pyramid are slightly concave - as commented upon by Petrie; the intent of this construction may have marked advent of the equinoxes. Lawrence discovered the pillar of Osiris, known as the djed, was used as a kind of celestial measuring-pole. The djed, when shown tilted, symbolised the Autumn Equinox and the confinement of Osiris within the coffin; whereas the djed when upright, denotes the Spring Equinox and the recovery of Osiris by Isis." Olivia especially of the three co-founders, was the one that drew us all together, as Aset Shemsu, to become a worldwide community. Blessings of Isis to you, dear Olivia as you dance among the stars!

FOI 43rd Anniversary and Full Moon

March 20th is the Vernal Equinox, which marks the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the Fellowship of Isis. It is also the day of the Full Moon, which on the west coast of the United States takes place at 6:43 PM. So today we honor the Moon Goddess with this oracle of the Goddess Ngame from Olivia Robertson:

Priestess: (Invocation) I invoke your inspiration, O Ngame, Triple Moon Goddess of Whom None in the Universe is greater. Caught in the dull web of our daily lives we look to Thee for the promise that lies concealed beneath Thy mysterious veils of magic. 

Oracle: You cannot see your own body save for the tip of your nose and the front of your body down to your toes! You need to gaze into still water or a looking-glass in order to see yourself: and even then the image is reversed. All you have learnt from science is but a limited area of knowledge deduced from insufficient information, garnered through extended five senses and logical inference. You can, however, only understand the hidden spheres of the occult if you learn the language of symbols. Each symbol embodies a reality on another plane. The moon which I hold in my dark hands is the mirror both of the polarized rays of the sun, and of your own earth, when its shadow blackens the moon. So those who fear the eclipsed Full Moon reject their own shadow! The moon symbolizes duality, a duality that is even manifested by the Solar Deities, Who yet cast a shadow upon the lower earth plane. The God when reversed is a devil. Yet the moon in triple form shows forth that harmony which resolves duality. 

The aetheric matrix of your earth appears to you as a dream reflection of physical life, to vanish at day-break. But in fact it is the causal essence of the physical plane. You can only alter physical matter through making changes in its aetheric counterpart. A table cannot be moved an inch without psychic volition. To do this knowingly is the art of magic. Spiritual transformation, rather than mere aetheric manipulation, is also the gift of the moon. As it is impossible for you to see your own face save in a mirror, so in order to know and transform your soul, you need to gaze into the aetheric lunar mirror. What you see therein may delight or terrify you! The ugly may see an angel: the handsome a monster. Union is achieved when the persona and soul are one: so the spirit is in harmony with itself. For what seems alien, even macabre, is your hidden self which, if banished, creates a vacuum in your soul. So deprived, you became psychically maimed. 

During the past two thousand years, mankind has attempted to vault over the psychic spheres of the moon, and achieve the higher planes without it. Femininity, magic, the occult, were all despised, feared and exorcised in temples and churches; convents and colleges; in monasteries and laboratories. But now the time has come when mankind the student grows to adulthood. Each of you must face the reverse image instead of attacking it, labelling it heretic, devil, black witch, lunatic, hallucination! For the Three lunar spheres, psychic, spiritual and cosmic are an essential curve in the evolutionary spiral. In the Piscean age it was necessary for devotees to struggle with their own souls to achieve one-pointed purity. But in this coming Aeon of the Winged Ones the shadow image must be absorbed. So may the Greater Self include both higher and lower selves. Duality is resolved not through conquest but through harmony. 

Every planet has its reverse twin and I preside over them all. And I also rule over the mightier duality of the shining stars burning in black space. Darkness and light are united in My cosmic embrace. I hold them in My arms as I do each one of you.

Anniversary of the Founding of the FOI: March 21

March 18- Celebrate the Birth of the FOI on March 21: “Earth Magic of Transformation” in Urania. Rite by Attunement for All FOI Members are free to join in by around the world on March 21st, Spring Equinox, which is the actual FOI Birthday/Date of the Founding - either as full ceremonial, or reading it, and visualising it.

There doesn't have to be a specific time as that is difficult to coordinate internationally, without it being inconvenient for some. All the rites can be done solo, by reading aloud, perhaps with a candle, and or incense, or more elaborate if you choose! Relax beforehand, and anoint your brow with water before you start. Make sure you won't be interrupted by phones or people. Cats and dogs usually like to join in!

Just a friendly reminder: the heads of all centers are responsible for keeping their own records of titles conferred via consecration or ordination, and all degrees earned. This is in accordance with the wishes of FOI Co-Founder Olivia Robertson, who continued the gradual decentralization of the Fellowship of Isis, a process she began in 1999. Any members who wish to send copies of their records to FOI Central for listings on the website or for inclusion in Isian News are warmly welcome

Mirror Magic with Olivia Robertson

In honor of the Centenary of Olivia Robertson (b. April 13, 1917) a series of thirteen meditations will be conducted from April 1 - April 13. The meditations are focused upon a particular magical technique employed by Olivia Robertson and her brother Lawrence Durdin-Robertson in their temple. FOI Daily Prayer

Many members have asked, “What can I do?” There is a simple thing every FOI member can perform each day: saying the FOI Daily Prayer. Olivia used this prayer twice daily in the Temple of Isis at Clonegal Castle. She suggested attunement times by members at some point between 6:30 – 8:30 morning and evening in their own time zone.

“When we attune ourselves beyond our physical sense at dawn and dusk, we are learning to commune with the beautiful spheres of the Goddesses and Gods. By inducing a serene and kindly mind, wishing good to all, we receive transmissions from beyond our own Egos. Protected by an aura of Isian Light, we commune with each other, Spirit Guides, angels, and above all, ISIS of 10,000 Goddesses and Their Consorts. There is a cosmos out there awaiting us.” ~ Olivia Robertson

Fellowship of Isis Central: New Site, New Charter

A New Aeon, and a new site/location on the web for Fellowship of Isis Central. FOI Co-Founder Olivia Robertson felt this necessitated a new charter for Fellowship of Isis Central. She has referred to the site as the Central Hearth of the Fellowship of Isis on the web several times by letter, now it is included in our new charter. Thank you Olivia!

There are those who founded teaching centres within the Fellowship of Isis before coursework, guidelines and regulations were implemented. In those years between their founding and the production of guidelines, regulations and courses, these centres have brought through others, who have founded their own centres, and in turn, teach in the same format. The question arose - are they valid? ALL training courses are valid. ALL centres have autonomy. Regulations and procedures are provided as guidelines, they are meant as suggestions. The ONLY basic requirements are teaching centres base their work on the F.O.I. Manifesto and the F.O.I. Liturgy. The Candidate using rites suggested in the coursework most helpful to his or her own chosen Path. The College of Isis being the exception, as guidelines were laid out upon the revival of the College as inspired by Isis.

“The Queen’s regulations are handrails, not handcuffs.” - General Sir Lawrence Parsons, grandfather of Lawrence Durdin-Robertson and Olivia Robertson. He burnt mounds of red tape in his day!

When members founded Lyceums, Iseums, Groves and Priories they did so in the understanding that their work, based on the F.O.I. Manifesto, had validity!

Since 1976 there have been many lists of requirements and regulations for the courses of various centres. However, the requirement for acceptance of the Manifesto is the only basic necessity to unite us all. Regulations multiply which is the usual order of Societies! As Lawrence Durdin-Robertson was wont to remind us: “In the beginning of Christianity, all members were called Saints. Now you need to have performed two miracles and to be dead to qualify!”

The time has come to be free from secrecy, binding vows and inflexible rules! Any coursework should be available to all sincere seekers. This is essential to preserve the ethical validity required by the Goddess Isis of Truth for her Fellowship.
